Samurai Town
Samurai, merchants, geisha, and lords have all left their mark on Kanazawa in a compact. Kanazawa has developed under the control of the Kaga domain in the Edo period and still keeps the tradition and the atmosphere of it. Kanazawa castle was surrounded by Samurai town, vibrant Merchantf town and Temples zone and Samurai spirit and the Castle town taste are still here and there even now.

Traditional Arts and Crafts
Traditional art craft of Kanazawa had flourished with gchanoyuh, the tea ceremony, in the Kaga domain. In the late 17th century, Kanazawa developed a policy of culture including various arts in order to appeal its peace policy and avoid confrontation with the central government. This history led to the foundation of culture in Kanazawa which flourishes even today.

Kanazawa is blessed with a variety of foodstuffs, such as rice cropped, Kaga vegetables, good quality water, and fish and shellfish caught in the Sea of Japan. Moreover, the production of soy sauce, advanced cooking techniques that was encouraged by the Kaga Domain and beautiful Kutani porcelain and lacquer ware raised the cooking culture of Kanazawa.

Japanese traditional performing arts such as Noh dramas, Kyogen - classical comic theater and classical Japanese dance are all in Kanazawa. People say that you can hardly see a genuine gGeishah unless you go to Kyoto or Kanazawa. There are three gChayah, Geisha quarters in Kanazawa ? Higashi, Nishi and Kazue. Kanazawa is surely the place you will experience the traditional culture of Japan.
